Regional Valais Junior Downhill Skiing Finals

Sporting events Free

The highlight of the season for all the young competitors from the Valais takes place in Veysonnaz in a sporting and friendly spirit.

Event has ended

Competitive sport is a school of life. Skiing allows children to thrive in the mountains, to be confronted with sometimes extreme weather conditions and to feel a certain pressure at the start of races, where they are alone at the starting gate.
The junior racers are aged between 8 and 10 years old, and train during the season with regional groups, for example for the young and up-coming champions from here train with the Giron de Thyon-Veysonnaz. The winter is punctuated by a few races where the children can measure themselves against the various neighbouring ski clubs, from Nendaz, Val d'Hérens, etc...
At the end of the season, Veysonnaz is proud to host the Regional Valais Junior Final on the Cheminée and Ours ski slopes. This long awaited final is the highlight of the season. The race is not an ordinary one, it combines the different disciplines in several events spread over the two runs, with technical exercises as a bonus.
All the junior skiers of the Canton compete against each other once only in the winter. Imagine the excitement and motivation that such an event can inspire in a young skier.
In addition to the purely competitive aspect, this day is also intended to be festive with various activities for parents and children alike. Food stands are set up at the bottom of the Ours run. The end of the season is celebrated in style in Veysonnaz!
